Indiana, Louisiana Join States Adopting Federal Tax Deadline

Revenue agencies in Indiana and Louisiana clarified that they will conform to the new federal tax filing deadline for individual taxpayers, extending the filing season by one month.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) signed an executive order Monday aligning his state with the majority of states shifting their filing dates to May 17, from April 15. Indiana’s other filing and payment due dates won’t be changed, Holcomb said. The IRS adopted the May 17 deadline last week to accommodate taxpayers struggling to comply with tax provisions in recent pandemic relief laws.
