AIL Insurance Agents, Trainees Get $6 Million Wage Deal Approved

A revised $5.75 million settlement between American Income Life Insurance Co. and more than 7,000 insurance sales agents and trainees won final approval from a federal judge in San Francisco, resolving three lawsuits alleging various California wage and breaks violations.

The class members, who trained to become and/or worked as sales agents for AIL in California, will receive roughly $4.12 million. Class counsel will get about $1.43 million in attorneys’ fees plus $32,000 in costs, and the named plaintiffs will receive a total of $22,500 in service awards.
