California Golf Club Can’t Shake EEOC Sexual Harassment Suit

A Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., golf club must face allegations that a male manager favored female subordinates who acquiesced to his sexual overtures and retaliated against those who didn’t, a federal judge ruled.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued Bay Club Fairbanks Ranch LLC, as successor to Fairbanks Country Club, in August 2018. It filed on behalf of Sidney Scott and similarly aggrieved women in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

The lawsuit was part of a wave of sexual harassment allegations the agency leveled against employers in a push against workplace harassment.
