Case: Discrimination/Exhaustion of Remedies (D. Mass.)

Northeastern University is entitled to dismissal of a claim by a protected-age part-time Master Teacher and Lead Instructor that he was discharged on the basis of his age, because he failed to exhaust his administrative remedies. His signed charge wasn’t submitted until more than 300 days after his discharge, and the EEOC Intake Questionnaire that he filed didn’t qualify as a charge for exhaustion purposes because he was explicitly informed that answering the questionnaire wasn’t the same as submitting a charge, the general and vague statement he wrote on the questionnaire lacked sufficient detail to make out a discrimination complaint,...
