Casino Workers Win a Hand in Missouri Pay Deduction Cases

A second casino company has lost its bid to toss out a federal lawsuit in Missouri that claims payroll deductions for gaming license fees caused workers’ pay to fall below the minimum wage.

Employees of IOC-Kansas City Inc., which operates the Isle of Capri Casino, sufficiently made their case that the company couldn’t justify deductions that dropped their hourly pay below minimum wage or overtime requirements, according to a Nov. 7 order denying the employer’s motion to dismiss in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
