The Labor Department’s contractor watchdog will proactively ask human resources staff, managers, and employees during discrimination audits about how spouses of veterans are treated at work, according to the agency’s first directive in fiscal year 2020.
The directive follows on the heels of agency guidance published in May on the same topic. While directives also function as guidance, the Nov. 8 document explained in further detail the DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs plan to ensure that federal contractors aren’t discriminating against military spouses.
Employing military spouses is a priority of the current administration. President
