Fiat Sees Claims Trimmed in Suit Over ‘Ominous’ COBRA Notices

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Tuesday convinced a federal judge in Michigan to pare down a lawsuit brought by a former employee who alleges the car giant sends legally deficient and “ominous” notices informing workers of their right to continue health coverage after leaving their jobs.

Gabriel Green sued FCA US LLC in November 2020, saying the notices the company sends under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act are deficient in part because they include an “ominous warning” suggesting they could be subject to civil or criminal penalties if they submit incomplete information when electing coverage.
