Florida IHOP Settles EEOC Sexual Harassment Suit

An IHOP franchisee in Plantation, Fla., will pay $70,000, adopt sexual discrimination policies, and provide training to settle claims that the store’s owner sexually harassed a female server and a class of other female current and former employees.

The consent decree entered Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida resolves claims by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and IHOP franchise Swami Pancake LLC.

The franchise will also hire an independent EEO consultant who will assure compliance with the decree by investigating any sexual harassment complaints, under the terms of the consent decree.
