Senators from both parties are asking Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta to get involved on the issue of workplace sexual harassment.
At a Senate panel hearing on the Trump administration’s request to slash Labor Department funding by 11 percent, the senators instead urged Acosta to use his authority to eradicate harassment. That’s an issue that the government typically enforces through the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, not the DOL.
But the secretary expressed willingness to act, before ultimately saying real progress would be up to Congress.
“Ultimately, I think the department implements the laws of Congress and enforces those laws,” Acosta added....
