MGM Grand Can’t Cut Worker’s Time to Sue for Bias: 6th Cir. (1)

An employer may not contractually limit a worker’s time for suing for alleged bias under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Sixth Circuit held on a question of first impression.

The decision dealt MGM Grand Detroit Casino a setback in a sex discrimination case brought by former cook Barbrie Logan. Logan had agreed as part of her employment application to bring any discrimination lawsuit against MGM within six months, and her case had been dismissed because she missed that deadline.
