Texas Teacher Settles Suit Over Shared Photo of Same-Sex Wife

A Texas school district and a lesbian art teacher who says she was unfairly disciplined after sharing a photo of her same-sex partner with second-grade students have settled her lawsuit, federal court records show.

Stacy Bailey’s lawsuit alleged that Mansfield Independent School District was also reacting to her having mentioned Jasper Johns’s gay marriage to fourth-graders when it barred her from resuming her teaching position at Charlotte Anderson Elementary School in Arlington, Texas. That violated her right to equal protection under the law, Bailey said.
