Chile’s Top Court Orders Uber to Open Up Accounts (2)

Ride-hailing giant Uber has lost an attempt to stop Chile’s tax authority from examining payments to its drivers in a case that could weaken the protection of bank secrecy in the South American country.

In a ruling published Oct. 15, Chile’s Supreme Court threw out an appeal by the company’s local subsidiary Uber Chile SpA against a request by the tax authority, Servicio de Impuestos Internos, to access information on accounts held by Uber.
