European Union Gazettes EC Decision Approving Amendments to Hungarian State Aid Regimes for Companies Affected by Coronavirus

The European Union Official Gazette April 9 published the European Commission (EC) decision on State Aid Case No. SA.62250, approving the amendments made to four temporary Hungarian state aid regimes to support companies affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The regimes include measures: 1) extending the deadline for the beneficiaries to submit applications to receive the aid; 2) supporting self-employed individuals by lifting their obligations to pay social contribution taxes and lump-sum taxes; and 3) increasing the regime’s budget to 625 million euros (US$734 million) from 315 million euros (US$370 million).
