Vodafone’s India unit has taken the fight for refund of $675 million from Indian tax authorities to the country’s top court, which agreed to hear the telecom company’s in yet another tax battle with the south Asian nation.
The Indian Supreme Court’s two-judge panel headed by Justice U.U. Lalit Jan. 18 issued a notice to the government on Vodafone Mobile Services Ltd.’s petition seeking a refund of 47.6 billion rupees paid in income tax from FY15 to FY18. The court said it will hear Vodafone’s petition for a tax refund after 4 weeks.
