OECD Aiming for Political Agreement on Digital Tax by June

The OECD is aiming to find political agreement in June 2020 on its work to fundamentally overhaul global tax rules, the group’s tax head said.

The plan must ultimately find consensus among more than 130 countries. Once there’s agreement on details of the proposal, work can begin on implementation, Pascal Saint-Amans, director of the OECD’s Center for Tax Policy and Administration, told reporters Oct. 17.

“Once we have agreement, we’ll get into the more granular details. Part of that will be the implementation,” Saint-Amans said. “The goal is to move as fast as possible if we have political agreement.”
