IRS Tax Tip: Renew Expiring ITIN Soon to Avoid Delays on Tax Refund (IRC §6109)

Taxpayers who have an individual taxpayer identification number should find out whether it expires this year and, if it is among the 2 million that do, renew it now to prevent delays with the processing of their refund when they file their taxes next year, the IRS advised. An ITIN is used by taxpayers who don’t qualify for a Social Security number.
