Utah Gov. Gary Herbert was rebuffed in his chief legislative goal—modernizing the state’s tax code—but he’s not giving up.
The Republican governor says he will call the state Legislature into a special session this summer to give it another shot.
“We need to make some tax reform, or as I say tax modernization, to have a tax system that reflects the economy of today,” he told Bloomberg Tax March 14. “Not 20 years ago, but today.”
