Amec Foster Subsidiary Beats Claims Over Failed Retaining Wall

Amec Foster Wheeler Environmental Infrastructure Inc. won’t face Superfund claims stemming from a failed wall it was hired to build to prevent PCB-contaminated soils from entering the Delaware River, after the Eastern District of Pennsylvania found no actual release of hazardous substances.

The plaintiffs, a group of utilities that sent used PCB-containing transformers to a salvage site near the Delaware River, sought to recover for the costs of hiring a second contractor to repair the wall under Environmental Protection Agency oversight.
