Brouillette Vote Still Leaves Key FERC, Interior, Posts Vacant

The Senate’s Dec. 2 confirmation of Dan Brouillette to succeed Rick Perry as secretary of Energy still leaves a host of energy, environment, and climate science positions unfilled with just weeks to go in the first session of the 116th Congress.

The Republican-controlled Senate moved relatively quickly in filling Perry’s position, voting 70-15 to confirm Brouillette to be President Donald Trump’s second energy secretary in less than three years.

The Senate is scheduled to adjourn Dec. 13, but that date could easily slip given the need to pass spending measures, including one to extend governmentwide spending beyond Dec. 20 when...
