Cuomo Looks to Rapid Testing to Kick-Start New York’s Economy

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday laid out plans for jump-starting the state’s coronavirus-damaged economy, relying largely on rapid testing and social distancing to reopen everything from theaters to major office buildings.

“We will need to adjust to the new social and economic realities of the post-Covid world,” Cuomo said during his State of the State address. The policy speech is the second of four daily addresses scheduled through Thursday.

“Testing is the key to reopening our economy before the vaccine hits critical mass,” he said, adding that critical mass could take at least six months.
