Dow Chemical Is Monitoring for Dioxins After Huge Michigan Flood

Dow Chemical Co. and the state of Michigan are deciding what steps to take after massive flooding earlier this week hit the company’s headquarters and a nearby federal cleanup site.

Parts of Michigan’s Midland County flooded after two dams failed earlier this week, causing mass evacuations and the closure of Dow’s headquarters.

Dow is working with the Environmental Protection Agency to inspect ongoing cleanup work along the Tittabawassee River, part of a federal remediation project. There have been “no reported product releases” into the environment, Kyle Bandlow, spokesman for the company, said in an email Thursday.
