Communities in 39 states and U.S. territories received 155 grants totaling more than $65.6 million to help clean up brownfield sites, the EPA announced Wednesday.
“Grants awarded by EPA’s Brownfield Program provide communities and tribes across the country with an opportunity to transform contaminated sites into community assets,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler in the agency’s announcement.
Among the grant recipients are:
- The New Jersey Economic Development Authority, which received $800,000 for for a revolving loan fund it will use to target 12 communities dealing with brownfields, poverty, and health disparities.
