EPA Providing $6.9 Million in Brownfield Revolving Loan Funding

The EPA announced it will provide more than two dozen revolving loan fund grantees with an additional $6.9 million to clean up and redevelop brownfields around the U.S.

  • The Environmental Protection Agency chose communities with opportunity zones to receive additional funding through the revolving loan program. Revolving loans allow repaid funds to be used by other borrowers and act as an ongoing source of capital.
  • The opportunity zones program, set up by the Treasury Department, creates opportunities for outside investors to support distressed communities. Brownfields are underutilitzed properties that may or may not be contaminated.
