EPA Still Hasn’t Explained Pruitt’s Travel Costs, Watchdog Says

The EPA still hasn’t justified its decision not to recover at least $123,942 in improper first-class and business-class airfare expenses racked up by former Administrator Scott Pruitt dating back to March 2017, according to the agency’s internal watchdog.

The Environmental Protection Agency “has not provided sufficient justification to support the basis of the determination” not to recover the money, the EPA Office of the Inspector General said in a report dated June 29 and made available on Tuesday.

The EPA didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
