EPA Sued Over Approval of Missouri Nutrient Water Standards

The Environmental Protection Agency’s approval of Missouri’s water quality standards for nutrients in its lakes should be set aside as arbitrary and capricious, an environmental group said in a complaint filed in the Western District of Missouri.

The December 2018 approval of the standards without requiring numeric criteria for nutrient pollutants is contrary to the agency’s position for more than ten years and violates the Clean Water Act, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment Foundation said in its complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Missouri Dec. 3.
