The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would take the lead role in coordinating the interagency licensing process for hydropower projects in a bill passed by the House Nov. 8.
The Hydropower Policy Modernization Act of 2017 (H.R. 3043), introduced by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), aims to shorten the time needed to license new projects or reauthorize existing ones. It passed 257-166.
