Lawmakers Battle To Keep Carbon Capture Bill in Defense Measure (1)

A legislative effort to vastly expand investment in carbon capture and storage could get booted off a must-pass bill because of hesitation from the House side, according to the bill’s sponsor.

The Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies Act, or USE IT Act (S. 2602), was passed in the Senate version of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1790), but not in the House version (H.R. 2500). The two national defense bills are in conference as lawmakers negotiate a final bill to be signed by the president.
