A conservation group is trying to force the federal government to take action to protect the dwindling population of red wolves in North Carolina.
The Center for Biological Diversity filed a lawsuit Nov. 19 claiming the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hasn’t updated its recovery plan for the nearly extinct wolf species, as it had committed to do.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, asks the court to require a plan revision and set a timeline to do so.
