Maxim Integrated Products Trims Claims Over Cobalt in Wastewater

Maxim Integrated Products Inc. won dismissal of Superfund claims over allegations its wastewater was contaminated with cobalt because there was no showing that any of the waste was released into the environment.

The assertion that the cobalt-contaminated wastewater was “subject to leaking from sewer conveyances” isn’t enough to establish a “release” under the Superfund law, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Nov. 18.
