Red States Come to Trump’s Side in Litigation Over Car Standards

A coalition of Republican-led states is going to court to defend the Trump administration’s decision to cut off California’s authority to set its own auto emissions standards.

Ohio, Texas, West Virginia, and 10 other states on Nov. 26 asked to join litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The states say the Transportation Department was right to issue a September regulation that says federal law preempts California’s tailpipe emissions standards.
