Senate Committee to Take Up Fluorochemical Health Study

A Defense spending bill that includes $10 million to examine the health effects of two fluorochemicals will be taken up by the Senate Appropriations Committee in January.

The House passed a similar provision in July that was tucked into a consolidated spending package (H.R. 3219) for the Department of Defense and other agencies for fiscal year 2018.

Calls for a fluorochemicals study also was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (Pub. L. No. 115-91) that President Trump signed into law Dec. 12—but that law doesn’t include money to actually fund the study.
