Utah Oil and Gas Sale Plan Greenlighted, But Needs More Analysis

The Bureau of Land Management’s plan to open land in Utah to oil and gas leasing may proceed, but two potentially more sustainable alternatives must be weighed, a Utah federal court ruled.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Utah’s Thursday ruling largely came as a loss to environmental groups who challenged the agency’s decision to issue 59 leases of public land in the Uinta Basin for oil and gas exploration.
