Amazon Faces Record Privacy Fine Under EU’s GDPR Law

Amazon.com Inc. faces a record European Union privacy fine, possibly as high as 350 million euros, as a probe by its lead EU data protection watchdog is drawing to a close.

  • Luxembourg’s Data Protection Commission is planing to slap Amazon with the highest-ever EU privacy fine in a probe stemming from a 2018 complaint by French privacy rights campaigners La Quadrature du Net, according to three people familiar with the probe, who can’t be quoted because the decision isn’t final
  • Amazon and the Luxembourg data protection watchdog declined to comment
  • Dow Jones reported the possible fines earlier
