EU Data Chiefs Renew Concerns Over Data Transfer Program

European regulators are making it clear that they still have several concerns about how the U.S. is maintaining its end of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.

Thousands of U.S. companies rely on the bilateral data-transfer program to move EU citizens’ data out of the bloc, by pledging to adhere to privacy principles in the framework. The U.S. Commerce Department oversees certifications for program participants, and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission handles enforcement.
