EU Privacy Watchdog Unveils Four-Year Data Protection Strategy

A European Union data protection official announced a four-year strategy Tuesday that includes stronger enforcement.

European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) Wojciech Wiewiórowski said his office intends to monitor advances in data protection technology around the world; strengthen its supervision, enforcement and advisory roles; and promote digital justice in the enforcement of responsible and sustainable data processing.

Wiewiórowski also outlined three core pillars of foresight, action, and solidarity to address digital challenges before the end of 2024 in the strategy presented at an online forum.
