Michal Bobek, an advocate general at the EU’s Court of Justice, said on Wednesday that the General Data Privacy Regulation, or GDPR, gives a lead watchdog, such as the Irish agency when it comes to Facebook, “general competence” over cross-border data processing.
But while other regulators “enjoy a more limited power,” the law doesn’t prevent them from taking a company to court in some cases, he added.
