Twitter Inc. lost an appeal of a four million ruble ($53,959) fine for allegedly failing to store Russians’ personal data within that nation’s borders.
The Tagansky District Court of Moscow rejected the appeal after imposing the fine Feb. 13. The Russian regulatory authority Roscomnadzor in January had begun administrative procedures that resulted in the fine.
The court in February also announced an identical fine against Facebook, though that company didn’t announce plans to file an appeal.
Facebook, Twitter and Roscomnadzor did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
