Trump’s OSHA Nominee Frequently Sought Changes to Proposed Rules

Scott Mugno, the Trump administration’s nominee to lead OSHA, and his longtime employer, FedEx Corp., found much to complain about in workplace safety and health rules proposed over the past 22 years, testimony from Mugno and company officials show.

From guidance covering the proper lifting of heavy objects proposed by the George W. Bush administration to requirements that companies report injury statistics, as championed by the Obama-era Occupational Safety and Health Administration, FedEx—often with Mugno as its point man—called for proposed requirements and guidelines to be relaxed or dropped and for more collaboration with employers.
