The Senate on Tuesday approved President Joe Biden’s nominee to be the EPA’s second highest-ranking official.
Lawmakers voted 52-42 to confirm Janet McCabe’s nomination as the Environmental Protection Agency’s deputy administrator.
McCabe now assumes a vast portfolio of responsibilities as the EPA tries to pivot away from the policies set out by the Trump administration. She’s expected to work closely with Administrator Michael Regan on projects such as rebuilding the EPA’s staff, shifting its posture on scientific integrity, and embedding environmental justice into the agency’s day-to-day activities.
