Appeals Court Judge Named to Florida Supreme Court After Dispute

An appeals court judge has been named to Florida’s highest court, days after the Florida Supreme Court rejected the Republican governor’s previous pick as constitutionally ineligible for the position.

Jamie Grosshans of Florida’s 5th District Court of Appeal will be the fifth woman to serve on the state supreme court.

“I stand on the shoulders of champions who have fought for equality and the right of women to lend their voices the leadership in this great state,” Grosshans said at a news conference Monday in Tallahassee, Fla.
