Florida Supreme Court Rejects Governor’s Pick for New Justice

The Florida Supreme Court has ordered the state’s Republican governor to fill a vacancy on the high court by Sept. 14, rejecting his pick as constitutionally ineligible for the position.

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Palm Beach County Judge Renatha Francis and former Assistant U.S. Attorney John Couriel to the court on May 26 to fill vacancies left by two justices appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
