JAG Colleagues’ Bar Membership Dispute Can Stay in Federal Court

A JAG attorney may defend himself in California federal court against a fellow officer’s unauthorized practiced of law charge, the Ninth Circuit ruled Wednesday.

Lt. Col. Lawrence Minasian, who’s licensed in Tennessee and Arkansas, practices law in California under directions from a federal officer and was therefore entitled to remove the lawsuit to federal court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said.
